Stora is hiring a Senior Product Designer. We’ll be accepting applications until 7th May with a start date ASAP.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team to help us on our journey to build the operating system for self storage. There’s lots of impactful design work ahead where you can make your mark.
At Stora, we believe the best software is created by someone who can see a project through from idea, to visuals, to the finished product. Designers at Stora don’t just design concepts or flows. They are heavily involved in working out the details from day one, speaking to customers if needs be. They’re happy to get stuck in and commit front-end code to create the finished product.
If you are a generalist who enjoys design, development, writing and collaboration then you’ll fit in perfectly at Stora.
Your primary focus will be on our web application, with the occasional marketing task sprinkled in to change things up. Collaborating closely with our engineers, you will design new features or enhance current ones, usually within 6-week project cycles.
Along with having great visual taste and sensibilities, you must be able to write your own HTML and CSS. You won’t be expected to go further than that.
We prefer self-managing team members. You won’t get a lot of oversight in your day. You will be given high level direction and be expected to take ownership and drive projects forward.
You also love to write, recognising that copy is an integral aspect of design. You understand that words are as important as pixels, and great visuals accompanied by weak text results in bad design. Your attention to detail should extend equally to both phrasing and appearance.
Here are some things we’ve worked on recently to give you a sense of what you’d be working on:
Stora is a fully remote company, and this is a remote job. For now, we prefer candidates based in the UK, but will consider anywhere with at least 5 hours of overlap with GMT during a normal working day.
Stora launched in 2020 aiming to revolutionise the self storage industry. Our platform was designed to solve real-life problems that competitors weren’t, and as a result we’ve brought on board hundreds of customers from across the global. We’re a fast-growing company who’ve gained a reputation as innovators in this space, and we plan to keep it that way. Our team is small, focused and love to build world-class software.
The annual salary for this position is £55K+ depending on experience. This is for a 4-day work week, working 8 hours per day.
Our benefits are designed to help you lead a healthy life outside of work. That’s why we work a 4-day week and offer flexible working hours.
While this is a remote position we also give you the opportunity to connect in real life too, with an optional team day every Thursday in Belfast, or during one of our two company meet ups each year.
To help you do your best work, we provide you with a laptop of your choice and a WFH budget to create your ideal work environment.
Beyond this we offer private health insurance for you and your direct family members, a company pension, 28 days paid annual leave per year and share options.
Please submit an application here that speaks directly to this position. Share a bit about yourself, what you think you could contribute to Stora, and how you envision Stora playing a part in your future. Tell us about work you’re most proud of and what truly inspires you. Please also attach your CV or share any links you think are relevant, such as LinkedIn.
The deadline for applications is 7th May 2023.
We encourage applicants of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We believe that our work is stronger with a variety of perspectives, and we’re eager to further diversify our company. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for you to do the best work of your career.
You’ll hear from us by 12th May, about your progression to the interview phase. Anticipate 2-3 remote interviews, each lasting 30 minutes, with your prospective colleagues, scheduled at your convenience. We will discuss your background, design approach, and professional experience.
Following the interviews, our final candidates will be asked to complete an at-home project that should take no more than four hours. This exercise reflects the nature of our work and enables us to evaluate your problem-solving abilities. We limit this stage to a maximum of 3 candidates, who should allocate approximately one workday to complete the project.
We aim to make an offer within a week of the at-home challenge submission.
We appreciate you giving us that consideration, and we promise to give you our full attention in return. We look forward to hearing from you!
